CUA in Washington The undergraduate program offers a bachelor of arts degree with specialized concentrations in American government, political theory, and world politics. Our unique location in Washington, D. C., provides students with unparalled opportunities for careers in politics, government, foreign service, and law. Extraordinary internship possibilities are available to students on Capitol Hill, in the executive branch, with area courts and law firms, with Washington's many "think tanks" and lobbying organizations, and with government agencies including (in recent semesters): the State Department, the FBI, the White House, and through our study abroad programs, at the English and Irish parliaments. Admission to the program is competitive.
Several programs are offered for graduate study. The master's degree is offered for concentrations in American government, comparative government, political theory, and world politics. Special master's programs are offered on Capitol Hill in the field of Congressional and Presidential Studies and in International Affairs. A joint program with the Department of Economics offers a master's degree in international political economy. Qualified students may also pursue a combined MA/JD in various department programs in conjunction with the Columbus School of Law. The department has active Ph.D. programs in American politics, comparative politics, world politics, and political theory.
